How much does it cost to post a lost or found bird?

It is completely free. Lost & Found Birds is a community service run by Bird Sitting Toronto to help reunite lost pet birds with their families across Canada.

How do I catch an escaped parrot or budgie?

Do not chase it — that usually pushes the bird further away. Keep it in sight, offer a favourite food or its cage, and try to lure it down at dusk when birds settle. If someone else spots your bird, ask them to note the exact location, time, and direction it flew rather than approaching it.

How will people contact me about my bird?

Anyone with information reaches you through a contact form on your listing, so you stay in control. You also receive a private management link by email to update your post, add photos, set a reward, or mark your bird as reunited at any time.

What details should I include in a report?

A clear, recent photo helps the most — many birds look alike. Include the species, the bird's name, any leg-band or microchip ID, the exact area and date it was last seen, and whether you are offering a reward.

Can I get alerts for lost or found birds in my area?

Yes. Sign up for free email alerts and we will notify you whenever a matching bird is posted near you — so you can help reunite a neighbour's bird, or be the first to know if your own is spotted.

Q: What should I do the moment my bird flies away?

Act fast and stay calm. Most escaped pet birds stay within a few hundred metres for the first day or two. Search at dawn and dusk when birds are most vocal, call its name in a familiar voice, and place its cage outside with food and water in view. Then post a report here so neighbours, vets, and shelters can help you look.
