How far can a lost budgie fly?
A newly-escaped budgie usually makes one panicked flight and lands high within a few hundred metres. Over days it can drift a kilometre or more, especially with wind, so search your immediate area first and widen the net daily.
How do I lure a budgie back?
Place its cage outdoors with millet spray and favourite food in view, play familiar sounds or another budgie's calls, and search at dawn and dusk when budgies are most vocal. Do not chase it — that pushes it further away.
Do budgies survive outdoors in Canada?
Budgies are tropical and cannot tolerate cold for long. In cool or winter weather every hour counts — post immediately and search aggressively, focusing on sheltered, sunny spots.
